Joe Ciarrochi’s maternal grandfather and name sake, Joe Snyder, started Snyder Installations in 1931, servicing the now defunct Yeagar’s Department Store with quality flooring installation. After the closing of Yeagers in the fifties, Snyder’s started a long installation relationship with the Montgomery Ward Corp. Servicing all three Akron area stores.
It was truly a family business, as Joe grew up a third generation installer. Joe learned the trade from his older relatives who took the time to teach the “old school” ways, such as hand sewing, upholstering and vinyl coving. Being proficient with those skills directly help with the intricate details of custom rug making today.
After the closing of Wards, Snyder’s Gallery of Floors opened in the Stow area in the early ’80’s. The showroom attracted many Stow and Hudson customers, but installations where still a large part of their business. Many area interior designers were being serviced by Snyder’s Installation. The company moved back to Akron in the mid “90’s.
Back surgery got Joe off his knees and into the sales and management end of the business. With down time he developed his artistic rug skills and transformed the warehouse into a rug workroom. After 18 years with the family business, he decided to give it a try on his own, thus the start of Exquisite Carving Creations in 1998.
A large 16’x18′ table allows him to spend many hours without the fatigue of being on his knees to insure the quality of his craft.
Joe’s strong background in art helps him draw ideas from your room, such as wallpaper, pictures, furniture, fabric or intricate woodwork, to create that one of a kind piece that pulls everything together. Joe’s work can be seen in some of Northeastern Ohio’s finest homes, as his services are in high demand from the areas most affluent designers. His work has been featured by Channel 23 News and The Akron Beacon Journal. Rugs have been shipped as far as Colorado, New York, Virginia, Florida and Pennsylvania.
